Public Works

Public Works is responsible for maintaining city streets, sidewalks, and other public spaces. The Department manages the City’s transportation, mobility and parking operations. Public Works is also responsible for engineering, management and construction of capital improvement projects relating to water, wastewater and stormwater facilities, and city streets. The department also maintains the infrastructure necessary for the efficient and safe handling of stormwater. In addition, permitting requirements related to development, and utility availability requests are processed through Public Works.

Services

Under the leadership of Public Works Director, Reuben C. Franklin, Jr., P.E., the Department is responsible for the delivery of a wide array of important services to the people of St. Augustine. To accomplish this, the Department is organized to focus on the following:
