Commercial Development & Site Construction

For commercial, institutional and subdivision projects, a permit application with civil site construction plans are required, submitted directly to the Public Works Department. Public Works approval is required prior to issuance of a building permit. Public Works acceptance of site and utility construction is required prior to certificate of occupancy.
 
A Florida licensed professional, qualified by State law to perform the design work, must sign and seal the submittal package to Public Works.

Inside City Limits

Permits Required for Projects Inside City Limits:

  • Any modifications or improvements to City rights-of-way
  • Building additions (permit requirements determined on a case-by-case basis)
  • Clearing, grading, stormwater drainage and all other site work
  • Parking lots – new, additions to, or modifications such as resurfacing
  • Site development or re-development projects
  • Water/sewer utility connections, improvements, modifications or extensions

Outside City Limits

Permits Required for Projects in City Utility Service Area, but Outside City limits:

  • Any work around, over or affecting existing City utilities
  • Water/sewer utility connections, improvements, modifications or extensions
