Administration

This division is responsible for the supervision and management of the department and its’ two stations, as well as the daily operation and coordination of the various divisions. It consists of the Fire Chief, Carlos Aviles, who also serves as the City’s Emergency Manager, and an Administrative Coordinator.

Fire Chief Carlos Aviles is currently also serving in the following roles:

  • Northeast Florida Regional Director for the Florida Fire Chiefs’ Association.
  • Board of Directors for the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
  • Steering Committee Member for First Coast technical College. 
  • Fire & Emergency Incident Information System Technical Advisory Panel.
  • Florida Firefighters Employment, Standards, and Training Council

 Administration is responsible for the following:

  • Fire Department Budget
  • Equipment and Station needs
  • Human Resources and Payroll
  • Meeting Insurance Services Organization (ISO) requirements
  • Public records requests
  • Purchasing
  • Apparatus
