Roughly 3 out of 5 fire deaths happen in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms. When there is a fire, smoke spreads fast! Working smoke alarms give you early warning so you can get outside quickly.
Smoke alarms should be installed inside every sleeping room, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the home. We recommend smoke alarms with 10-year Lithium-Ion batteries; otherwise, batteries should be checked monthly and replaced twice a year. Daylight savings is a great time to change those batteries.
If you need smoke alarms in your home, contact us! We will provide and install them for free. Call the St. Augustine Fire Department at 904-825-1098.
