Conservation Program
Mission Statement
To acquire, improve, and manage lands that protect the City’s natural and cultural resources, and improve the community’s health and resiliency.
Goals
- To be accountable to the taxpayers and to treat partners, landowners, and sellers with respect.
- To protect and preserve the City’s natural resources, including water quality.
- To preserve archaeological & historical resources, including cultural landscapes.
- To bolster resiliency and reduce losses and impacts from floods by preserving floodplains and vulnerable areas.
- To protect and enhance ecosystem services for the benefit of the community.
- To conserve, maintain and restore the natural environment to facilitate adaptation to climate change, including sea level rise.
- To promote passive recreation by providing community-based parks and open space throughout the City. All properties acquired must be fully accessible to the public.
- To preserve & maintain scenic landscapes.
- To encourage a community land ethic and promote good stewardship.

Nomination Instructions
To nominate a parcel of land, the nomination form must be properly filled out by the property owner (pages 1 and 2). If a property owner is being represented by someone else, then the last page of the application must be signed, notarized, and submitted with the application.
Once completed, the form can be submitted via email, mail, or in-person drop-off. To submit via email, please send a scanned copy of the completed application to: conservation@citystaug.com
