News Flash Posted on November 15, 2024

Offices for the City of St. Augustine will be closed on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.  There will be no solid waste service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, and no residential recycling service on Friday, November 29.

The week of Thanksgiving, the Solid Waste schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday, November 28 – No Solid Waste collections
  • Friday, November 29 – No residential recycling

In the interim, residents may divert recyclables by using our free drop off recycling locations, listed below:

  • Downtown Lincolnville, 501 Riberia Street - at the end of Riberia by the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Solid Waste facility
  • Anastasia Island, 143 Red Cox Dr. - behind RB Hunt Elementary School, just past the skate park & soccer field, on the right
  • North City, 323 San Marco Ave. – the North end of San Marco before it merges with US1, on the right side before the Las Palmas condos
  • West City - 30 Pellicer Lane - inside the chain-link fence on the south side of the Dr. Sue A. Middleton Archaeology Center building
  • City of St. Augustine Beach - 2200 A1A South - glass only, at the south end of St. Augustine Beach City Hall parking lot by the American flag

Parking in the Historic Downtown Parking Facility will be free on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28.  City-owned parking lots and on-street parking is free on all national holidays, such as Thanksgiving Day, except for the Castillo de San Marcos. Please note, regular parking fees will resume on Friday, November 29.

Drivers are urged to confirm if a lot is owned by the City and not a private operator, as many of those lots have strict towing policies. Parking will be enforced for all vehicles parked illegally, including in areas reserved for delivery, franchised sightseeing vehicles and taxis, or vehicles on sidewalks or against yellow curbs.

Questions about waste pickup and additional information may be directed to the City's Solid Waste Division at 904.825.1049, Monday-Friday, during normal business hours.
