Wastewater infrastructure in low lying coastal communities face multiple threats such as sea level rise, storm surge, increased flooding and precipitation, and rising groundwater levels. The purpose of this study was to assess the vulnerability of onsite treatment and disposal systems (aka OSTDS, septic systems) to three potential sea level rise scenarios and potential storm surge. Results of this study identified 2,938 residential septic systems in the city's utility area.

In addition to the study, a story map was created to show the locations of vulnerable septic tanks within the St. Augustine Utility Service Area.
