Street & Lot Parking Downtown
Founded in 1565, St. Augustine's town plan was originally designed in the late sixteenth century for foot traffic, horses, and carriages. This historical layout predates modern vehicles, resulting in the famously narrow streets, many of which are one-way and feature overhanging balconies. Consequently, parking in downtown St. Augustine and its surrounding neighborhoods remains exceptionally limited and highly sought after.
Where to Start
We recommend starting at the Visitor Information Center and parking in the adjacent Downtown Parking Garage.
Parking Options
Parking lots and metered on-street spaces are available throughout the downtown area. Look for clearly labeled City of St. Augustine pay stations (which display the City crest and ParkStAug app icon).

St. Johns County Resident Discount
St. Johns County residents are eligible for a discounted parking rate of $3 per entry at the Historic Downtown Parking Facility (standard rate: $20 per entry*).
How to obtain the resident discount:
- Visit ParkStAug.com to apply for the resident discount.
- Click on Resident Discount (ParkNow) in the top menu bar to Register your vehicle license plate(s) and provide proof of St. Johns County residency.
- Once approved, the discount will be applied to your account within 14 business days. You will be able to pay for on-street parking, in lots and the garage with the ParkStAug App or at a kiosk.
Privately Owned Lots
Be aware of several privately owned lots downtown. Their pay stations and rates are separate from the city-owned system. All city-owned pay stations and will clearly display the City crest along with the ParkStAug app icon.
