City coordinates distribution of masks to local businesses

Keeping owners, staff and customers protected is first priority

In an effort to assist local businesses in their ability to safely open and operate, the City of St. Augustine will make available face masks for purchase starting today,

With a minimum order of 100 masks (two boxes), businesses operating within in the city limits may complete an online inventory request form to initiate an order.  A member of city staff will respond to the request within two business days to take payment over the phone and coordinate a time for pick-up. Masks will be available for pick-up Monday through Friday, during regular business hours, by appointment.

“We wanted to be able to provide assistance that would help lessen the financial burden of some of the safety recommendations set forth by CDC and OSHA as part of the re-opening strategy,” City Manager John Regan said. “With the city’s ability to purchase face masks in large, bulk quantities, we can offer an affordable option as these businesses get back on their feet.”

The city has ordered an initial total of 125,000 masks and will consider placing an additional order to ensure that every business has the chance to purchase a bulk quantity of face masks.

All requests for inventory must be initiated by submitting the web form, which can be found at www.CityStAug.com/COVID19

Questions may be emailed to masks@citystaug.com or call 904.825.1006.
