Public meetings scheduled for next week
The City of St. Augustine has scheduled several public meetings to gain input from residents, business owners and community stakeholders and service providers to build a strategic plan for addressing unsheltered homelessness and solutions to provide services to those in need.
The public is invited to attend any of the following meetings:
- Tuesday, July 25 at 1:30pm and 6:30pm, St. Augustine Yacht Club, 442 Ocean Vista Ave.
- Wednesday, July 26 at 6:30pm, Willie Galimore Community Center, 399 Riberia St.
- Thursday, July 27 at 1:30pm and 6:30pm, The Waterworks, 182 San Marco Ave.
Code Enforcement Manager, Barry Fox, has been appointed as the City’s liaison for this initiative. He will lead the meetings and offer a brief presentation of the City’s current efforts followed by ample time for questions.
In addition, an online survey has been created to obtain input from community stakeholders/service provider organizations, resident/business owners, and those who have lived / experienced homelessness. The survey may be accessed here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/StAugHomeless
In a coordinated effort with Florida Housing Coalition and St. Johns County Continuum of Care, the results of the community meetings and the survey will be compiled and used to write a comprehensive strategic plan. With a formalized strategic plan in place, opportunities for federal funding and other funding sources will be more readily available.
Questions about these initiatives may be directed to Barry Fox at 904-640-9919.
