Committee will examine short term vacation rental industry and make recommendations
As a result of the City Commission’s special meeting on Wednesday, May 23 to receive public input regarding the rapidly growing short term vacation rental industry and its impact on the city, the commission is looking for volunteers to serves on a special committee regarding the subject.
The seven members of the Special Committee on Short Term Rentals will represent a wide range of those involved in and affected by the industry. The committee will study the vacation rental market in St. Augustine and based on its findings make recommendations to the commission for new or amended ordinances.
In order to have the committee represent a broad range of those associated with the industry, the commission will consider appointments of those who are:
- owners/operators of a private short term rental;
- owners/operators of a commercial short term rental;
- owners/operators of a bed and breakfast;
- representatives of the vacation rental by owner industry;
- real estate property managers; and
- residents from areas most affected by vacation rentals.
