5th Place overall advances; individual award for top Grapple/Claw Truck operator

The weather Thursday was perfect at the Clay County Fairgrounds for the 17 contestants participating in the American Public Works Association (APWA) Northeast Florida Branch Road-E-O, hosted by the City of Green Cove Springs.
Representatives from the City of Jacksonville, City of St. Augustine, Clay County and St Johns County completed in four skill events. Individuals with the highest score in each skill event earned top honor for “Best Operator” per piece of equipment. The City of St. Augustine’s Darrell Wierzba earned Best Operator for the Grapple/Claw Truck competition.
The top five Overall Skilled Equipment Operators who will advance to the state competition in Jacksonville on April 18 include Ed Passmore from the city’s Streets and Grounds Division.

“We are so proud of how well our Public Works operators did and to see them thoroughly enjoy a fun day with doing what they do best and doing so in a competition,” said Public Works Director Martha Graham, adding “They are really good at what do and we are proud of them all.”
