About the Board

The Planning and Zoning Board (PZB) is a volunteer citizen board, appointed by the City Commission, and is the State mandated land planning agency for the City. The PZB reviews the following:

  • Appeals of staff to make decisions and recommendations to the City Commission
  • Applications for variances
  • Comprehensive Plan amendments
  • Exceptions
  • Zoning amendments

Purpose

The purpose of the board is to grant zoning exceptions and variances as provided in the zoning code ordinances, hear appeals of any decision of the Planning and Building Department and recommend to the City Commission the rezoning of land or changes to the Comprehensive Plan.
